Goodwill’s Career Pathways Program: Jasmine’s Journey
After spending years incarcerated and overcoming addiction, Jasmine was released in December of 2021 with a community corrections sentence to a local halfway house. There she began an employment search seeking a second chance at life. Goodwill was the only employer who gave her the opportunity she needed, joining the Goodwill family in February of 2022. Not long after finding a home at the Goodwill store in Longmont, CO, Jasmine inquired about Goodwill’s learning and professional development programs offered free to Goodwill employees and she enrolled in Goodwill’s Career Pathways Program. Through CPP, she earned her certification in Retail Operations and developed new daily skills, such as math, marketing, communication, and team functionality. She learned the importance of taking accountability, honesty, and responsibility. These skills have also helped Jasmine’s personal life in multiple ways, helping and guiding her through her recovery in sobriety. Applying all these new skills, Jasmine now chairs a meeting for addicts in recovery twice a week.
“Using the skills I learned through the [Career Pathways] program, I pursued my career and future through Goodwill. I began training for Generalist [position works all areas of the store from production to the sales floor] on any given day and used every day as a chance to become a part of the Goodwill family.”
Jasmine continued to learn and grow within the organization and was recently promoted to Supervisor. She has no plan of stopping there. We’re so proud of all you’ve accomplished, Jasmine and can’t wait to see what the future holds!
