GOODWILL’S CAREER DEVELOPMENT SERVICES PUTS PEOPLE TO WORK

For over three decades, Goodwill’s Career Development program has closely and strategically partnered with statewide Human Service and other partnering agencies to train and put job seekers to work in our community. This program offers wide-ranging support that equips and empowers individuals with barriers to employment to succeed on the job and in life.

Goodwill’s experienced and caring staff provides personalized assistance to all participants, no matter their background, as a “hand-up,” rather than “handout,” to ensure their future success and satisfaction after entering the workforce.

Career Development Services Include:

  • Assistance matching participants’ interests and skills with the right job
  • Training classes to prepare for employment
  • Help creating a resume
  • Interview coaching
  • Financial assistance with clothing, haircuts, transportation, etc. for job readiness
  • Ongoing mentoring and resource support for further career development

Work Adjust Program

Referred job seekers receive individualized, on-the-job training from specialized Goodwill staff who help adults develop positive work habits needed to succeed in employment.

  • Chronic Unemployment
  • History of Frequent Job Changes
  • Limited or No Work Experience
  • Subsidize Wages (up to 12 weeks) for Qualified Candidates

Skill Training Includes:

  • Job Performance: Punctuality, grooming and quantity/quality of work
  • Work Practices: Safety, self-awareness, and proper care/handling of equipment
  • Job Seeking: Search resources, applications and interviews
  • Employee Benefits Orientation—Payroll, insurance, unions and retirement
  • Community Living Skills: Time and money management, and transportation
