Meet the Team: Kelly Hargrove, BankWork$ Manager & Instructor

For the last seven years, CareerWorks and Goodwill of Colorado have partnered to offer BankWork$, a free eight-week job training program that prepares students to work in the banking industry. During this time, over a hundred community members have become more self-sufficient through their careers in banking. Much of this success would not have been possible without our BankWork$ Program Manager and Instructor, Kelly Hargrove. Kelly joined the Goodwill team in early 2022 after 26 years of banking experience. In those 26 years, Kelly was a Teller/Banker, Assistant Manager, Branch Manager, Branch Operations Specialist, and Retail Support Analyst. With all this experience, BankWork$ students can get a firsthand view of what it is like to work at a bank.

“When I first learned about the BankWork$ job, I loved the idea of bringing my banking background and my prior experiences coaching people with barriers together.”

Kelly said, “This was an opportunity to blend the best of both worlds to serve the community by providing skill training and gainful employment into a career!” Kelly has enjoyed her time with Goodwill so much she can’t pick out just one favorite memory but says the best part of her job is watching her students transform during their BankWork$ training. Kelly describes this transition as “many students come into class the first day timid, shy, and completely unsure of themselves and the choice to take the class. Fast forward to graduation day, and these same students who put in the hard work and kept their commitment to themselves stand proudly and speak confidently.” In addition to seeing individual students grow in each class, they also create a community where they support and encourage each other. Kelly looks forward to bringing BankWork$ to as many people as possible looking to get placed into new, stable, and rewarding careers.

Here at Goodwill, it’s our mission to help people overcome barriers to economic and personal independence through education, training and job placement.
