Meet the Team: Jacci Echevarria, Possibilities Art Instructor
If you have toured Goodwill’s Possibilities campus, you have seen the artwork in the town center. Those beautiful pieces would not be possible without Possibilities Art Instructor Jacci Echevarria. Possibilities is a day program for adults with physical or developmental disabilities focused on giving individuals the tools to achieve independence and self-sufficiency. Jacci teaches creative skills to Possibilities clients so they can express themselves artistically.
Before joining Goodwill, Jacci worked in other roles helping people with disabilities, including working as a Dog Trainer, specializing in task-training service dogs and as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Jacci’s brother, who lives with a disability, has inspired her career path. When she learned about Possibilities from a friend, Jacci recalled how similar programs teaching independent living skills allowed her brother to become more self-sufficient and wanted to get more involved in Goodwill’s work.
From community outings and center-based learning, Possibilities clients always do something interesting. Still, one of Jacci’s favorite memories with the program was the first time she saw clients perform. “Possibilities hosted a karaoke party for participants, and it was such a joy seeing all of the participants get up and sing their favorite songs.”
Jacci is excited to see how Possibilities continues to grow and evolve, but she is most excited about seeing how the program helps change lives.
“I look forward to the end of the year where I can look back and see how much our participants have grown and how much independence they have gained.”
Goodwill’s Possibilities is a first-of-its-kind adult day program focused on person-centered skill development and community inclusion conducted in an innovative town setting.
