Meet the Team: Jennifer Skaggs, Possibilities Activities Supervisor

Possibilities Activities Supervisor Jennifer Skaggs works hard to ensure her team provides impactful activities for Possibilities clients working to gain independence. Possibilities is a day program for adults with physical or developmental disabilities focused on giving individuals the tools to achieve independence and self-sufficiency. Jennifer oversees a team of two community liaisons and three instructors. The instructors provide the participants with knowledge and life skills to grow and become independent. The Community Liaisons take the participants into public spaces throughout Colorado Springs to enjoy the city’s culture and learn essential tasks like shopping and banking.

Prior to working at Possibilities, Jennifer was an independent contractor who provided services for families who have children and teenagers with disabilities and a job coach working with adults. Jennifer was excited to bring her previous experience to Possibilities to help our clients.

Jennifer’s favorite part of being an Activities Supervisor for Possibilities is seeing the participants grow.

“I have seen a participant who never used to speak now enthusiastically greet staff and participants who enter the Town Square. It is exciting to see someone who never likes to go on an outing finally become excited to get out into the community.”

This year Jennifer looks forward to making Possibilities better and bigger. “We are always learning new things and wanting more for our participants,” Jennifer says. “We are all about change and doing what can we do to improve their experience at Possibilities.” Jennifer keeps her staff passionate and motivated, which is clear from activities and outings they are continuously planning to make Possibilities an even better day program.

Goodwill’s Possibilities is a first-of-its-kind adult day program focused on person-centered skill development and community inclusion conducted in an innovative town setting. The Possibilities simulated community spans 14,000 square feet and includes 11 unique centers, each focused on building new skills to increase independence for individuals with emotional, physical and cognitive disabilities.
