Facilities Management Journey: Denise

Through a generous grant from Denver’s Office of Climate Action, Sustainability and Resiliency (CASR), Goodwill of Colorado and the International Facility Management Association Foundation (IFMA) partnered to create and expand clean energy jobs for the Denver area.

Facilities Management Graduate, Denise Gallegos, Director of Day Center Operations at the Senior Support Services shares with us what she has planned next for her career!

On a Journey

While on a journey to further and enhance my education and employment skills, I learned about the IFMA Facility Management program through Goodwill of Colorado career services. I decided to apply for the Essentials of Facility Management program and I was accepted.

While going through the Essentials of FM program it peaked my interest to further my education in Facility Management. Upon completion of the Essentials program, I was offered a scholarship to the IFMA Facility Management Professional course and apprenticeship program, where I recently received my FMP certification.

My journey will not stop here, I’m moving forward to the next level of furthering my education in Facility Management by taking the IFMA Sustainability Facility Professional (SFP) course.

I’m very proud of my accomplishments and grateful for the opportunities provided to me by Goodwill of Colorado and the IFMA Foundation.

Thank you to all who made this opportunity possible for me!

Denise

The Facilities Management program is Goodwill of Colorado’s first partnership into the world of apprenticeships, and the work supported by this program will have significant impact on providing jobs in facility management careers. Forty-five individuals will be accepted into the pre-apprenticeship program, where they will earn credentials towards their facilities management apprenticeship through courses taken. At the end of the pre-apprenticeship program, 15 individuals will be selected to move into the facilities management apprenticeship, where Goodwill will work with each of them to help get them placed into a facilities management position.

Pre-apprenticeship training is provided at Goodwill’s main office located in Denver. At this time, only City and County of Denver residents are eligible, and anyone interested in learning more about the program or applying should contact if*********@go**************.org.
