Where Are They Now? Follow-up with Facilities Management Graduate, Denise

After completing the Facilities Management Pre-Apprenticeship training in 2022, Denise shared her experiences with us. We recently reconnected with Denise to learn about her ongoing success and how she continues to excel with her Facilities Management credentials.

1) What was the best part about your experience with Goodwill?

All three instructors were very supportive of the students. They always answered participant questions, provided hands-on activities, and gave thorough examples and details on the content we learned.

2) What were you doing for work before the program and what are you doing now?

Prior to the program my title was Day Center Manager.  Since completing the Facilities Management training with Goodwill, I was promoted to Director of Day Center Operations and received a 4.8% increase in pay.

3) How have you used the skills you learned to better your career?

I can now identify necessary building and maintenance need changes and know how to adapt the facility as the seasons change. I have also been successful building service relationships with other agencies.

4) What other changes have you seen in your life since finishing the Facilities Management Pre-Apprenticeship training?

I am more confident in my skills and decision-making since taking the course.

5) Do you have advice for anyone considering the training?

It is a great course that you will benefit from to further your skills and career. Believe in yourself – you can do it!
